Nominate a Small Business Veteran

The Roanoke Regional Small Business Development Center
is soliciting nominations for the
2008 Small Business Veteran of the Year Award.

Deadline for Applications is July 17, 2008.

Eligibility:

• Nominee must be a veteran who has been honorably discharged or retired from any U.S. branch of military service.

• Nominee must be or have been a significant owner in a business.

• Nominee must be living at the time of their nomination.

• Nominee and their business must be located in Virginia.

Criteria for Award:

• Nominee should be innovative and/or highly successful in his/her efforts to promote small business development and growth.

• Nominee should demonstrate community involvement in his/her promotion or advocacy of patriotism, country, duty, and freedom with a special emphasis of working with veteran causes.

Local award winners will be announced at the
Roanoke Regional Small Business Awards Dinner on
September 30, 2008.
The local award winner will be submitted to the state level. The state winner will have their name permanently inscribed on an urn at Virginia’s War Memorial Foundation in Richmond, Virginia.


Past local winners include: Nathan Tanner for 2002 (also won Virginia State Award), David Diaz for 2006,
and J. Patrick Green for 2007 (also won Virginia State Award).
